Greetings Scouts,
Calling all Troop 132 Alums! If you are home and available to come to the Holiday Party this Tuesday December 21 at the Scout House, please come by and visit the troop. We would love to see you. Leadership Thank you, Lucas, Grady and Jonah, for your leadership during the last term. Lucas was just hitting his stride as Senior Patrol Leader with much support from Grady and Jonah, which made a great team. Our terms for SPL/ASPL allow for sports and other commitments and we welcome SPL Lucien, ASPL’s Charlie and Cameron. There will be more opportunities in the future so plan when you want to run and invest the time in running the troop. Well done scouts! Eagles Happy Birthday to both Ben and Henry this week who turned 18 this week. Ben as you know is an Eagle and Henry completed all his requirements and only a successful Board of Review (BOR) stands between him and his Eagle rank. Just a reminder, all the requirements need to be complete, project done, application submitted along with a life statement and Scoutmaster Conference to submit the application by the time you turn 18; the actual BOR can occur after 18 but - I’m Henry would endorse what I’m saying - get this done well in advance of your birthday. Our mission as a Troop is to produce good scouts, scouts who live and follow the Scout Law. Good scouts are the ones who can be counted on to always help others, and always do a daily good turn. Good scouts come in all ranks and we have had many Life, Star, First Class, Second Class and Tenderfoot scouts who joined scouting for the camping, adventure and challenge; through these experiences and your involvement with the troop, some will set a goal of attaining Eagle rank, and others will not. If you come to meetings, plan and participate in trips and outings, make and learn from mistakes, adjust and do better, and take on challenges, you will have all the opportunities to earn whatever rank you want to achieve. It’s up to you and we are here to help and provide those opportunities but no pressure. You have enough of that in life outside of scouts. Life or Star to Eagle; Scouts and Parents -Yes Ok, that being said, Flintlock District’s Advancement Chair, Mr. Quigley will be hosting a zoom meeting for scouts and parents Life to Eagle. I added Star because the more you know the better prepare you will be. The dates are Monday 12/27 and Tuesday 12/28. Sign up. New Scout Corner Save the date and time for Christmas Tree Pickup Saturday January 8, 2022 and ask your parents to either help drive a U-Haul or “chase” car to help the troop pick up 750 trees in 7 hours. We are counting on lots of help and its fun; benefits the scouts and youth ministry; and provides a service to the town. Look for our new signs thanks to Ms. Flinn. Thanks to Tommy and Cameron for being Troop Guides. They taught you a lot but the new scout patrol will end and you will be in new patrols the first of the year. Remember to do your good turn each day! YiS, Mr. Duggan, Scoutmaster

Greetings Scouts,
Thanks to several scouts who helped with Henry’s Eagle Project at Emerson Field last weekend. We used the auger, mixed concrete and leveled 4X4 post. There are some unexpected changes in Henry’s plans and the post have been moved by the town to the first base side. The sign should go as planned despite the change in location; for any project, there are always what we call unknown-unknowns that really come out of the blue. For those not going to the LSA overnight, please lend a hand tomorrow at Emerson. Next meeting will be held outdoors at Emerson Field, to complete our fitness work. Dress in Class B and appropriate (warm!) clothing, and bring a head lamp if you have one. If you are interested in running for SPL, ASPL or PL, please complete the forms that Lucas has and submit to Lucas and me by the PLC Meeting next week. All scouts (especially the seniors) are welcome to attend regardless of holding a position of responsibility. You are most welcome but when it comes to voting the decisions will be with those holding the position. The meeting on 12/21, Winter Solstice, will be our Holiday Party complete with Yankee Swap. So, if you want to participate, see Lucas. For the Yankee Swap, remember don’t spend more than $20 for your gift, and it must be wrapped. It’s a lot of fun. New Scout Corner Bring your books to meetings and every event, especially camping. Record your camping nights, and service hours in the back of the book and have it signed off by me. Advancement Corner Congratulations to ASPL Grady. Grady completed all his requirements, had a Scoutmaster Conference, sat for his Board of Review and passed to earn Life Rank. Please congratulate Grady when you see him. Do your good turn daily! YiS, Mr. Duggan, Scoutmaster |
