We hope you are enjoying your vacation week. It’s been interesting with nice weather and some snowflakes. This Monday we have a PLC meeting. We welcome all the new and old to attend as we need to plan for May, Crossover, Troop Meetings, and a Bike Trip. May will be a busy month.
Our Tuesday meetings in May will be at Emerson unless the plan changes from the PLC. Reminder, Saturday, May 15 we will be hosting an Eagle Court of Honor (3:30 - 5:00 pm) at the Scout House for Nolan and Kevin. Sunday, June 13 (3:30 - 5:00 pm) we will be hosting another Eagle Court of Honor for JJ, Simon, and Lucas. 5 Eagle Scouts this year! All are welcomed including Webelos, parents, and friends (of course, if COVID restrictions change we will update and communicate changes).

Nice job last week introducing the Webelos to our Troop! You lived by the Scout Law and were friendly and kind to our new scouts. Well done on the cooking and cleaning. You did an awesome job which was much appreciated by the Scout House and certainly makes all proud when walking up the path. All neat and clean. The bike trip was fun and we always learn about planning. The timing, speed, and distances are not always as easy to cover.
This week we elected new leaders. Congratulations to Patrol Leaders: Marcus, Cole, and Grady, Tommy as our new Troop Guide, Senior Patrol Leader Henry, ASPL Lucas, and Lincoln! Thanks to our past leaders. Just a shout out to Christian: Well done in your role as Senior Patrol Leader! Your dedication to the Troop, good listening skills, attention to detail and constant follow-up are traits that helped the Troop advance along their scouting journey. Many thanks! This is vacation week and while we don’t have a Troop meeting we may try to put together an informal canoe trip. If this is possible we will communicate through the senior leaders as to when, where, and how. Remember – if you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far, go together. While we did not have a meeting this week, we did have a patrol leader council (PLC) meeting and a Troop Committee Meeting (TCM). Your Troop is always doing their best to be prepared. See you tomorrow morning for the Scout House clean-up. Bring your gloves, rakes, and class B uniform. Think of the Scout Law when welcoming the Webelos. Points 4 and 8 come to mind and to be put it into practice.
Bring your helmets, water, and make sure your bike is ready to go. Congratulations to our newest Eagle Scout JJ Moberly Chan who passed his Eagle Board of Review on 3/30/21 (during our Tuesday meeting). JJ provided good answers to many questions about his scouting career which included many Troop roles (including bugler, patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, and Senior Patrol Leader, and others) and he did a stint working at TL Storer. Congratulations again JJ!!
Thank you to Mr. Cancio (who recently scaled Mount Washington in March!). Mr. Cancio constructed an orienteering course in Fairyland for the scouts this past Tuesday. The past month the scout’s theme has been map/compass and orienteering. In past meetings, they had to orient and read maps, orient the compass, find direction, and determine their pace. There are a number rank advancement skills that the scouts worked on and some scouts are working towards orienteering merit badge. Saturday, April 17 is Scout-O and all this is good practice and skill-building. We welcomed the Webelos parents to our Troop this past Wednesday. Thanks to Mr. McWilliams and all the other Scouters (adults) who helped describe our Troop. Mr. Carter explained summer camp and I think we all agree that this is a key event for Webelos and our Troop. Remember, no Troop meeting this Tuesday. We will have a big Saturday (April 10) with breakfast, Scout House clean-up, new Webelos welcome, and a Bike Trip. PLC Meeting Monday night April 5. |
