Adult Leadership

  • The troop has a number of documents available to help adult leaders plan the program.  These are available in the Directory of Adult Leadership Documents and Resources.
  • All adults are encouraged to complete the on-line course in Youth Protection Training.  This is required for any adult who is going on an overnight scout trip.  You can find out more on the Youth Protection page on scouting.org. You do not have to be a registered member or have a member ID to take Youth Protection training. To take Youth Protection training go to MyScouting.org and create an account. From the MyScouting.org portal, click on E-Learning and take the Youth Protection training. Upon completion, you may print a certificate of completion to submit with a volunteer application or submit the completion certificate to the Troop Membership Chair for processing at the local council.

  • We always need adults to be merit badge counselors for the troop.  A merit badge counselor helps to advise scouts as they pursue a merit badge.  You can be a counselor for a merit badge that matches an area of expertise you may have, but there are also many general merit badges that any adult can advise.  The process for becoming a merit badge counselor is here: http://www.scoutspirit.org/counselors-are-mentors-simplify-the-process/

  • The Scoutmaster.org website has many helpful resources for adult troop leaders.
