Scoutbook
Introduction
Troop-132 is adopting www.scoutbook.com to keep track of scout advancements. This will replace our existing tracking system, Troopmaster. Scoutbook is provided and recommended by the Boy Scouts of America and is used by our Spirit of Adventure Council. . With Scoutbook, parents and scouts can see their current advancement and merit badge status.
Scoutbook does not replace the physical scout book. This will be their electronic scout record book. We still encourage all scouts to bring their scout book to all meetings and camping trips to track and manage their progress. The scout personal paper scout -book and merit badge blue cards will still be the system of record.
Our troop is adopting Scoutbook as an extra tool to keep track of advancements and merit badges. Scoutbook will be used as a system for verifying advancements and merit badges as they are recorded in the paper scout-book and blue cards. Instructions for Parents
To access Scoutbook, parents must follow these three steps:
While it is possible for parents to connect directly to their scouts in Scoutbook, we discourage that workflow. Troop-132 Scoutbook administrations will handle connecting parents with scouts. It is critical to get the connection between parents and scouts done correctly. This step cannot be undone.
Instruction for Scouts
Only parents can give their Scouts access to Scoutbook. If a parent would like to “invite” their scout to Scoutbook, that can be done in the Scoutbook site. Once invited, the scout will create their own login into Scoutbook and the scout will be able to see their advancements and merit badges. Again, we discourage parents and scouts from marking achievements as completed (green check mark) in Scoutbook. Scouts should continue to use their paper scout book and blue cards.
