Mr. Duggan is taking the week off from writing, but he will see you on Tuesday.

Thanks to the Scouthouse and the Concord fire department for the permissions and permits for the scouts to practice at the fire pit. It was a good start, but since we have only camped once this school year we are in need of more practical hands-on practice. Our meeting location for Nov 24 meeting will be back at the Scout House where we can get more hands-on fire building. Reminder, next Tuesday there is no meeting scheduled but instead, a Bike Trip on Saturday 11/21/2020 at 9 am starting at Sandborn. Please see above for more details.
Congratulations to Henry for passing his Life Board of Review. Well done Henry! Congratulations to Grady for passing his Star Board of Review. I know a couple of scouts need Scoutmaster conferences and just reach out to me via email and we will schedule one before or after a meeting or Zoom. The Turkey Drive is on. This is how you can help.
Keep up the good scouting, being helpful, and thanks to all for being flexible with scheduling and locations while we work through these scheduling and location challenges. We had a good night hike in fairyland last week. One thing we have to work on is spacing and keeping pace as a group. This is a lot easier said than done. Every scout has to look ahead and look behind and if the gap widens, shout out to the ones in front to slow or stop. It’s easy to get separated and these are situational awareness activities that we need to be mindful of for the Troop or patrol.
Next week we are looking for a place to practice fire-building. So stay tuned and we will get an email out on the exact location. The annual collection of frozen turkey’s on the Sunday before Thanksgiving and the event will take place this year. We will need to make some adjustments with more planning and opportunities for donations before hand. We are making modifications to how we collect and limiting the volunteers, but the need for turkeys is greater than ever. So please ask your parents and friends to help support families that might go without a turkey this year. We will have a Gofundme to donate so we can buy turkeys or if you prefer, you can buy one and drop it off on Sunday (11/22) in front of the Holy Family Parish. This is being helpful, kind, and much is needed. We are back to BSA Gear 3 which means that overnight camping is not allowed. We will make some adjustments and see what possibilities might exist. Regardless, we will be scouting on some upcoming weekends with some bike riding and shooting sports. |
