Congratulations to Freddy McWilliams, who earned First Class rank!
Mr. Duggan is taking the week off from his weekly message. The Scouts elected JJ as Senior Patrol Leader and Xander and Logan as the assistant Senior Patrol Leaders. Thanks to outgoing SPL, Logan, Aiden and JJ for their service and congratulations to the new team. Thanks to JASM Alex Cancio for coordinating the elections and doing a great job keeping me up to date. Thanks to Mr. Cancio for his assistance with running the next couple meetings while I am away traveling. The patrols elected the following Patrol Leaders: Reid, Nolan, and Nick. Thanks to the outgoing PLs, Lucas, Nick, and Simon.
As part of the requirements for all of these positions of responsibility, these boys have made a commitment to attend meetings, PLC meetings (once per month), camping trips, and service projects for their terms (May-July). This helps us build a strong patrol base and achieves the aims of scouting out in the field. Congratulations Scouts. Last weekend, 20 new scouts joined to form a total of 46 scouts who attended the Crossover on Scout Island. Welcome new Scouts to Troop 132! The new scouts were awarded new books and they had support from their Cub leaders, Troop leaders, senior scouts, and families. Crossover was a great event. Many shout outs to the many scouts and adults who made the weekend a success, but a special THANKs to Honcho Mr. McWilliams who made the entire weekend possible from his tireless efforts. Mr. Hill, working with Scout leaders Miles and JJ, helped the Concord Citizens with DropOff & SwapOff (DOSO). My numbers might be wrong, but I think we had over 27 scouts attend DOSO from the start to the finish. I received some positive feedback from many of the volunteers and citizens. Well done Scouts. Luke Pautler, Ben and with help from the Den Chiefs (Ben and Kevin) will help lead/guide the new scouts in one massive patrol. This is not our long term approach, but it is intended to get the new scouts the help they will need to make progress to Scout Rank and prepare for camp. The goal is for all of the Troop 132 scouts to be Helpful and Kind to the new scout patrol. We will form new patrols with are more integrated into the Troop in September. I will be sailing with my son (Will) next week as crew aboard the SSV Seamans sailing in the South Pacific for a few days. This is part of the Sea Education Association and we are looking forward to the adventure. Monday night the Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) met and detailed out the plan for the DropOff & SwapOff and Cross Over events. The team also covered the Nantucket Bike Trip planning details and they did a nice job organization the outings. This made the Tuesday night Troop meeting a bit more successful, even though there was a lot to cover.
This weekend reminders:
I have will be traveling for the next three weeks with my job and my involvement with the Sea Education Association (www.sea.edu), where I help out as an overseer. Mr. Cancio has graciously offered his assistance at Troop meetings and I will be back for the bike trip. I will be reachable through cell and email if you need signatures, so I look forward to hearing from you. With the elections, we may have some leadership changes for the next term (May, June and July/August), but I wanted to recognize the good scouting and leadership that has been provided by SPL Logan Prewitt and the ASPL's Aiden and JJ. Additionally Miles, Simon, Nick, and Lucas have served as leaders. These boys are incredibly dedicated to the troop and committed to troop meetings, camping trips and PLC meetings. They take the job as leaders seriously and contribute to a well planed, boy-led troop which we are all proud of. This is also a time to recognize the other positions of responsibility, who also lead by example and demonstrate their commitment to scouting: Ben C, Kevin, Xander, Henry, Erik, Luke, Ben and Will. They have served as Den Chiefs, Bugler, Scribe/Historian, TroopGuide/PL for the Webelos, and Troop Quartermaster. Keep up the good work and the corresponding attention to detail that is needed to keep the troop running. |
